Spring in Milford on Sea

Welcome to March in Milford on Sea where the air is crisp with the promise of spring and the landscape begins to burst with colour.

March also marks the beginning of the season for many attractions that aren’t open year-round. It’s the perfect time to get a head start on your adventures.

Explore Things to Do to get a head start on planning your perfect day out or check out our top things to do in March/April here:

Visit the Beach

This might be the first time this year that you put your toes into the water. Still a little fresh at this time of year, but nothing beats a quick dip in the sea. Check out for low tide times as a sandbar appears at Hordle Cliff beach and there is nothing quite like it!

Also pop down for the sunsets too at Hordle Cliff as this has become a destination for the sunset chasers and you won’t be disappointed if the conditions are right.

Enjoy a Picnic

With the weather getting warmer, dig out the picnic blanket and enjoy some al fresco dining. Here in Milford on Sea, you’ll have plenty of choices for the perfect picnic location from the beach at Hordle Cliff, the Green in the heart of village, on the spit alongside Hurst Castle overlooking the Isle of Wight or down in the picturesque village of Keyhaven.

Ride a Bike

If you fancy hopping on a bike, then New Forest Bikes will have you covered with its bike rental delivered straight to your holiday accommodation or why not try one of their electric bikes to quickly nip around the place. They also offer guided bikes tours if you fancy the personal touch and let the locals take you to some of the best hidden parts.

Golf with a View

And for those who are golf mad then head over to Barton on Sea Golf Club where all 27 holes provide a good test for golfers of all abilities, with the added advantage of being able to have a choice of three alternative 18-hole combinations, with unparalleled views of the sea on every hole.

Easter Maze Craze

If you’re looking for Easter related activities, then pay a visit to Hurst Castle which opens for the 2024 season on the 27th March. They will be kicking off the season with their Easter activities offering egg-cellent arts and crafts and an Easter maze! Activities run from Friday 29th March through to Sunday 14th April from 10am to 5.30pm. All activities are included in castle admission fee.

Jump on the ferry to get to the castle from Keyhaven! The first ferry leaves at 10am then approximately every 30 minutes. Enjoy the leisurely cruise up the Keyhaven River before arriving at the castle. It’s a great day out for the whole family and well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in both the castle and on the ferry.

Eat Local

Whilst you’re here please eat and shop local! Easter is the start of our season for our wonderful locally, independent shops and eateries in Milford on Sea, who depend so much on your trade to see them through the quieter winter months.

Milford on Sea packs a punch when it comes to eating and drinking and for the last few years there has been a food revolution in this pretty seaside Hampshire village.

We’re lucky to have one of the best seaside restaurants, The Lighthouse recently voted in The Times here in the village, as well as a renowned Thai restaurant, a popular Italian among locals and the true authenticity of three great English local pubs.
