Days Out

Milford on Sea is a great base for exploring the New Forest further and there are plenty of things to do, just a short drive from the village. If your family is looking for something a bit more action-packed then check out the theme park, Paultons Park (also home to Peppa Pig World) where you can enjoy rollercoaster rides, flumes, many play areas and meeting Peppa Pig characters.

And a stay in Milford in Sea is not complete without a visit to Beaulieu – probably best known as the home of the world-famous National Motor Museum. The museum houses more than 280 vehicles and includes legendary motor vehicles from all over the world, including the record-breaking Bluebird. Permanent and temporary exhibitions add to your visit, including the World of Top Gear, featuring vehicles from the popular BBC show.

Entry to the Motor Museum also gives you access to Beaulieu Abbey, where you can step back in history to the times of the monks and not forgetting Palace House, the home of the Montagu family. Here, costumed guides are on hand to give you the flavour of what life was like in Victorian times. Make sure you allow time to wander through the gardens and grounds including the colourful Victorian Kitchen Garden.

Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum is owned by motorcycling legend, Sammy Miller, 11 times British Champion, winner of over 1400 events. The Museum houses one of the finest collections of fully restored motorcycles in the world, including factory racers and exotic prototypes.

Paultons Park is the UK’s Number 1 Family Theme Park — located in Hampshire with over 70 exciting rides and attractions, set within 140 acres of beautiful parkland, approximately 40 minutes drive from Milford on Sea. It is also home of the UK Exclusive Peppa Pig World.

In the heart of the New Forest National Park, Beaulieu is a marvellous day out that can be enjoyed together. It includes the National Motor Museum, Palace House, Beaulieu Abbey, World of Top Gear and a new adventure play area, Little Beaulieu. It is an approximate 25 minute drive from Milford on Sea.

Visit Milford on Sea crabbing at Hurst Spit

Have a go at crabbing

Crabbing is a great free activity for the children to while away the hours. All you need is a crabbing line, bait (raw bacon works well), bucket and net. Please use net bags for placing food in rather than hooks, which are harmful to the swans, ducks and gulls.

Great crabbing locations within the village include the two bridges by Hurst Spit. Crabbing gear available from The Village News or Milford Cards and Occasions.

Visit Milford on Sea playpark at Hurst Road

Playpark

Milford on Sea’s new playpark on Hurst Road will keep the little ones entertained, while you can enjoy refreshments from the nearby Needles Eye cafe and The Lighthouse, while enjoying the view of The Needles. There is the popular bird’s nest swing here and a rope climbing frame with probably one of the best views in England!

You’ll be glad to know there are public toilets here too and plenty of parking at Hurst Road car parks (SO41 0PY).
