About

Gardens
There is always something new to see at Exbury. In spring, its world-famous collection of colourful rhododendrons and azaleas sets them apart from other gardens. These stunning shrubs are at their best in April and May, lining the paths with elegant flowers. Spring also sees a spectacular display of camellias and magnolias, and a stunning show of spring bulbs in Daffodil Meadow and the River of Gold.

In summer, its 200 acres transform into a shady sanctuary of tranquillity. Don’t miss the collection of hydrangeas, and the Iris, Herbaceous, Sundial and Centenary Gardens, all in bloom with a heady mix of perennials and exotic flowers. In autumn, the changing leaves provide a palette of stunning reds, oranges and yellows throughout the gardens.

Steam Railway
Nothing beats the thrill of a real steam train ride. Climb aboard at Exbury Central, the replica Victorian station, and enjoy an elevated view of the Rock Garden on a twenty-minute journey that takes you through a tunnel, over a bridge and around Dragonfly Pond. Don’t forget to pick up a copy of the children’s Steam Railway Explorer activity sheet and look for clues as you enjoy your rail journey.

Food and Drink
Mr Eddy’s Restaurant, the Old Tennis Courts outdoor café, the Potting Shed and Charlotte’s Little Ice Cream Kitchen are managed by award-winning local caterers The Little Kitchen Company. Enjoy food and drink to suit all tastes and appetites.

Events
There is a varied programme of events throughout the season, including school holiday workshops, family games and trails, creative workshops for adults, and theatre and music events. Highlights of the year include the ever-popular Halloween Ghost Train during October half term and the Christmas at Exbury event, including the Christmas Fair.

Shopping
The Gift Shop stocks a wide range of books, homewares, gardening gifts and souvenirs inspired by the gardens, their history and their wildlife. For children you’ll find imaginative ideas for rainy day activities and outdoor adventures alike.

The Plant Centre is stocked with an array of herbaceous plants, shrubs and of course rhododendrons and azaleas, reflecting the seasons at Exbury.

Gallery
A full programme of art and floral exhibitions are held in the Five Arrows Gallery throughout the season, all included free of charge with your visit.

Dogs
Dogs on short leads are welcome at Exbury – they can even travel on the train.
