Visit Milford on Sea - Dog and me looking out to sea

#mymilfordonsea

Sue, has been visiting Milford on Sea for 10 years and is now the proud owner of Needles Gap, a wonderful holiday home by the beach in the village.
Discover what Sue and her son Sam love about Milford on Sea…

When I think of Milford on Sea I think of…

The fun of family sunset beach BBQs after a lovely dip in the Solent and the wonder and gratefulness that I always feel when looking out to The Needles from Hordle Cliff as the sun rises in the early morning.

MY FAVOURITE BEAUTY SPOT IS…

The very far end of Hurst Spit beyond Hurst Castle, where you can sit atop the stony beach, either looking back towards Keyhaven or out across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. You can reach it by boat or kayak from Keyhaven or after a good walk from Milford on Sea. Sam and I have messed about on boats, paddled, fished and splashed about at this spot with our family and friends for years. I always pinch myself when I am there – it’s just so special.

MY SECRET SPOT IS…

The bottom of the little path down to the beach from Paddy’s Gap. When you get to the bottom of the path and walk just a little right along the beach you see the line of beach huts stretching out along the coast towards Barton on Sea – they are so pretty and timeless and always make me smile!

MY TOP PLACE FOR A DRINK…

On the beach at Hordle Cliff – take your cup of tea, coffee or something stronger and enjoy the view.

MY MORNING COFFEE SHOP IS…

A takeaway from The Lighthouse – it’s so lovely to be able to grab a coffee and walk straight onto the beach, along Hurst Spit towards Hurst Castle, or pop by there for a hot chocolate to warm you up after an early morning dip!

MY FAVOURITE INDEPENDENT SHOP IS…

No64 Biscuit House in the village. Apart from having such a lovely name, it sells wonderful things for the home and is owned by a super lady called Clare, who has a dazzling smile and always has time for a kind word and a chat!

MY MILFORD ON SEA FOODIE WEAKNESS IS…

Anything by Sophie Bence, The Private Chef – apart from being my sister in law she happens to make the best dishes, cakes and treats in the New Forest! No trip to Milford on Sea for Sam and I is complete without trying one of her latest creations!
