Step into Spring with a Local’s Guide
Explore Milford on Sea’s Coastal Paths
Spring is the perfect season to visit Milford on Sea’s coastal paths. There’s nothing better than feeling the coastal wind in your hair and taking in the incredible landscapes, whether it’s along the coastal path at Hordle Cliff beach or the Lymington and Keyhaven Marshes Nature Reserve walk that takes you from Keyhaven to Lymington along the sea wall. At a slow pace, and to take in the spectacular views, it will take you about two hours to reach Lymington, or you may wish to undertake a shorter walk which you can do by using the network of paths that will bring you back to your starting point at Keyhaven,
Sea Swimming
With the weather starting to warm up, why not take the plunge and give sea swimming a go. You could enter the water at Hurst Road end of Milford beach where you might come across a local swimming group that enters the water daily at around 9am.
Sunset Hunting
Milford on Sea is a perfect spot for the most gorgeous sunsets. One of the best places is down on the beach at Hordle Cliff or head to Keyhaven.
Wander among the Bluebells
One of our favourite sights of spring must be the bluebell bloom. A great spot near Milford on Sea is the Great Newbridge Copse, an ancient semi-natural woodland and a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC). It has more than 100 types of tree and plant and during Spring, bluebells can be seen in abundance here. Please keep to the Public Footpath and enjoy this area, found near Agarton Lane, Milford on Sea.
Go Paddleboarding
There are many ways to explore the dramatic Hampshire coast but for a truly unique and different perspective of the coastline take to the water.
There’s nothing quite like paddling and enjoying the peace and tranquillity away from the crowds, discovering secluded spots and spotting all kinds of wildlife and sea life.
The perfect spot for beginner paddle boarding or kayaking is at the Keyhaven River (sat nav SO41 0TR), a largely sheltered piece of water, just one mile from Milford on Sea. It is best to check the tide times as the best time to go paddle boarding and kayaking at Keyhaven is at high tide.
You can also paddle board off Milford on Sea beach at Hurst Road or at Hordle Cliff but this can be quite choppy if windy so best for the experienced paddle boarder in these conditions. For the beginner, it is advised to go at low tide as the shallow waters and sand bar make it perfect for families.

Spring also means a seasonal refresh for many of the restaurants in Milford on Sea as they add seasonal vegetables and fruits to its menus. Check out our at Places to Eat page to work out where you fancy going when you visit us next.
