About
Vinegar Hill Pottery offers unique accommodation and rewarding pottery classes in the wonderful seaside village of Milford on Sea.
It is very much a family affair where Lucy Rogers manages the three-bedroom accommodation and David Rogers is the master potter, teaching the pottery classes and producing his very own range of tableware and basins – handmade on the potter’s wheel.
Together they have gained an increasing reputation for quality and have recently built a brand new pottery studio to meet demand for their pottery courses. You may even have seen them featured on the BBC’s ‘The Great Pottery Throwdown’.
It runs one-day and long weekend pottery courses, both non-residential for anyone living nearby and residential, using its fabulous B&B accommodation for those who want to make a trip out of it. There are only 8 places per pottery course, meaning it can tailor the classes to suit all levels of skill and creativity. The courses are all based on the potter’s wheel – learning the basic techniques of throwing the perfect pot!
Its unique bed and breakfast accommodation caters for families, couples and glampers with a spirit for adventure. You can choose from a spacious family suite (with separate sitting room), a romantic hideaway (accessible via a spiral staircase), or “Rosie”, a lovingly restored 1885 ‘gypsy’ wagon (with private shower room). Vinegar Hill Pottery and its on site accommodation is in easy walking distance to the village of Milford on Sea, its shops and cafes and the beach.
There is also a gallery shop at the pottery, where David’s stoneware is available to view and purchase. Just rock up at the pottery and someone will show you around.
