A traditional English pub serving great home cooked food all day, located in the unrivalled position in the heart of the village and just a stone’s throw from the beach.
The Smugglers Inn has an extensive outdoor heated seating area and numerous picnic benches in its garden overlooking a stream. There is also a playground for the children and dogs are always welcome.
This quaint and family friendly pub’s nautical links are evident throughout, with a barrel of sherry, a ship’s steering wheel and a painting of Lord Nelson taking pride of place at the entrance.
But the High Street pub – dating back to the 1700s – served as a customs and excise office before being converted into a tiny bar called The Crown – only changing its name approximately 30 years ago.
The original bar, which included a barbers, was extended 60 years ago using old ship timbers, which along with dimmed lighting, wooden tables, cupboards and plush brown sofas, gives this pub a cosy rustic atmosphere.
The Smugglers Inn serves a selection of ales, mainly sourced from the local Ringwood Brewery, while the menu centres on home-cooked food and fish dishes, such as the Smugglers’ fish pie and seafood platter.
