A Grade II listed pub, The Gun Inn in the pretty hamlet of Keyhaven, just a mile outside Milford on Sea is making headlines in the local food scene with head chef, Mark Young championing the way.
Since opening in April 2021, head chef Mark, known as The New Forest Chef with his passion for local produce is firmly establishing this pub as a favourite with locals and tourists. Already it is becoming known for its ever-evolving menu, featuring the freshest local food, mostly cooked on a 3ft outside grill.
Sample dishes off the main menu, include Needles mackerel, Lymington crab, The Big Gun Dog and New Forest wild mushrooms. Then there’s the ‘Big Guns’ menu, with dishes ideal for sharing, including Hursley Lamb Shoulder, 4 Bone Rack of Blackwater Pork and a Whole Wild Seabass.
The menu is designed to be accessible for all people from those looking for a quick bite to eat whilst on a bike ride to those wanting for a more substantial leisurely meal.
The pub has recently been sympathetically renovated to preserve the character and ethos of the original pub, whilst reflecting the history of the local area. It has a covered seated area outside for up to 60 people and a further 60 seats available outside too.
