Sophie, a graduate from The Bath School of Cookery and the founder of Sophie The Private Chef, delivers freshly prepared food using local ingredients with a Moroccan influence direct to your doorstep. This is perfect for dinner parties, large gatherings, yoga retreats, special events, canapé parties and fridge and freezer food for holiday rentals.
I was brought up with huge passion for cooking whilst being taught the basics from a very early age by my mum, watching her making Prue Leith style cooking for her many dinner parties. I then went on to start up ‘Perfect Puddings, delivering lunches and dinners but mainly desserts, all round Cambridge. This I did whilst I was Three-Day-Eventing on my horse full time at a top level, which helped me with the entry fees, petrol and travel to all my events around the UK. After my eventing career, I signed up to an intensive Cooking Course, which took my knowledge and cooking skills to another level. Knowing that this was all I ever wanted to do and after ten years working in events for a large property firm in London, I started Sophie The Private Chef when we moved to Lymington and my business has taken off from here.
I absolutely love all Yotam Ottolenghi style of food, producing really wow-factor beautiful platters and mouth watering marinated meats and fish that are different to the norm is what I like doing most and of course my wow-factor desserts. As well as taste, presentation is absolutely key for me – all my food is served on large platters or boards with edible flowers and amazing micro herbs. With A Level in Art & Photography, I always want to create a masterpiece in anything I produce. It is really important to me to source all my food and platters locally.
I have such varied work from canapé functions for 100 (I have a team of waiters & waitresses on hand) to dinner parties to freezer filling. I always speak to the client after initial contact so I can gauge more about what they want and then we work out menus and pricing from there so it really is a bespoke catering service.
