Visit Milford on Sea Sitting on the village green

Welcome Back!

With the country opening back up again after months of restrictions, Milford on Sea is looking forward to getting back to business.

From the 12th April, we’ll see our independent shops, surrounding our village green reopening and the village vibe returning. This has been a tough time for all but in the Milford on Sea spirit many have put their entrepreneurial skills to use and have diversified in order to survive.

A great example of a business that has done just this is La Perle, overlooking the village green. Previously a leading restaurant in the village it has switched into one of the best quality takeaways, offering upmarket dishes, such as luxury noodles and gourmet burgers during lockdown.

One of our favourite independent shops to re-open is the ever-stylish No64 Biscuit House, an interior lifestyle business that is home to the most gorgeous products, sourced by husband and wife team, Clare and Glenn. For those who frequent No64 you’ll know that this shop never stands still, as the owner and stylist, Clare is always revamping her shop to give it the wow factor.

The buzz of the sewing machine will soon be returning to our fabric shop, Timeless Fabrics, so pop in to see Claire and her team, who are always on hand to give friendly advice. You can also while away the hours in Noah Valentine Antiques, squirrelled away at the back of no.9 High Street, with antiques to be discovered over two floors.

Always providing us with a pop of colour in lockdown has been florist, New Seasons. So drop in and say hello to Nichola and see her wonderful arrays of flowers, enough to brighten up anyone’s day.

From New Seasons, you might smell the waft of croissants and fresh bread from the new Coastal Bakery, which stands proudly on the corner of the High Street, opposite The Lazy Lion. While The Picked Weasel is also a great stop whilst out walking, offering a selection of pasties, sausage rolls, filled ciabattas and pizza slices, as well as coffees and cakes to enjoy on the go.

For those evenings where you don’t want to cook for yourself, check out the Saltwater’s Facebook page as it offers evening take away options that can be enjoyed back at your accommodation. While our favourite Thai, Britannia Thai can be enjoyed as a takeaway from Tuesdays to Sundays.

However, if you want to go somewhere else, although we can’t sit inside a restaurant yet, our friends at The Lighthouse will be opening up ‘The Terrace’ from the 12th April so you can enjoy its legendary burgers, while listening to the sound of the sea outside.

And we’re so lucky in Milford on Sea to have fantastic outdoor spaces to enjoy such as the village green, where you can enjoy a takeaway beer/wine from both The Wash House and The Cave – its popular with the locals so you might want to bring your own chair or picnic blanket down. Plus there’s nothing better than grabbing fish and chips from our no.1 chippy. Mister Pink’s and heading to the beach to enjoy the sunset.

So, it’s great to be able to say ‘welcome back’ and to encourage you to make the most of Milford on Sea’s local businesses during your stay – enjoy the beauty right here on your doorstep – you won’t be disappointed.
