Christmas in Milford on Sea

Christmas Shopping in Milford on Sea

There’s no place like Milford on Sea at Christmas time as it’s true community spirit comes alive, with the village green transforming into a Christmas light spectacular. You can enjoy the start of this celebration with the village’s ‘Lights Switch On and Christmas Carols on the Green’ event on Friday 2nd December at 5.45pm.

This popular event is a favourite among families looking to kick start the festive season and be sure to get here early for parking to enjoy the evening celebrations. There is also late-night shopping with Milford’s independent boutiques and shops, tempting visitors inside with their beautiful and unusual gifts you can’t find on the high street.

A visit to Milford on Sea is not complete without a stop by at award-winning lifestyle store, No.64 who will be dazzling crowds with its stunning Christmas window displays. Inside you’ll find an array of gorgeous gifts and decorations, lovingly sourced from Scandinavia, Europe and beyond.

A local’s favourite is New Seasons Florist, a must stop when shopping in Milford on Sea. Owner, Nichola also lovingly creates her window displays and at Christmas her seasonal windows create a talking point among visitors. Inside Nichola also promises to give your home the Christmas make over, with her stunning wreaths and table displays.

Independent fabric shop, Timeless Fabrics also stands proudly overlooking the green, with its wonderful array of fabrics and colourful selection of wools available. You might also be able to pick up one of owner, Claire’s carefully crafted individual creations. Also don’t forget to stop by Noah Valentine Antiques near Ray’s Italian Kitchen, where you’ll find a treasure trove of antiques.

Gifts can also be found at Vinegar Hill Pottery where master potter, David Rogers’ stoneware and gift vouchers for his one and three day pottery courses can be purchased.

Also look out for independent cheese store, Rockpool Cheese, where a hand-picked selection of the finest cheeses from the British Isles (and sometimes further afield) are ready for you to enjoy. Celebrating its first birthday in early December, Rockpool Cheese has triple the number of cheeses to choose from this Christmas and it has taken quite a few pre-orders already for some super-special cheeses. It also has some lovely gift bags for you to put all your cheesy gifts into and the owners, Peter and Gilly can help you put together a fabulous cheese board for you to enjoy over Christmas or indeed any occasion. Give them a follow on Instagram @rockpoolcheese to find out more about their new cheeses and other surprises.

For many of us our furry friends are also at the top of our Christmas shopping lists. Paddy’s Pool based in Milford’s industrial estate on Laundry Lane is well worth a visit as it offers Fish4dogs advent calendars, Fish4dogs Xmas crackers, a selection of Xmas toys, Forthglade Xmas meals/treats and the ever popular Xmas dog and cat hampers.

Plus check out The New Forest Paddle Sport Company’s online store here where you can buy the latest water sports gear and accessories, like the world’s best changing robe, the dryrobe.

But if you’re still searching for the perfect present for that person who has everything then what about an experience they can enjoy next year, with gift vouchers available from Rowing Adventures,The New Forest Paddle Sport Company and Hurst Castle. Gift vouchers can also be purchased for Milford’s many restaurants so someone you love can enjoy a meal at a time convenient for them in 2023.

With all this shopping, you might have developed an appetite so check out our independent cafes at Needles Eye, Polly’s Pantry, Saltwater and the Paddle on the Green – all offering a menu that will tempt you to put down your bags and take a rest before the shopping continues.

Thanks for supporting local this Christmas and we hope to see you very soon!
